PeopleNet, McLeod Integrate for LTL Fleets
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — PeopleNet Communications Corp., an onboard computing provider, said less-than-truckload fleets will be able to respond to changes from shippers more quickly through its latest integration with McLeod Software.
With LTL drivers making as many as 20 stops a day, it is common for drivers’ routes and assignments to frequently change, Garland Jackson, a PeopleNet senior vice president, told Transport Topics.
However, he said this integration allows PeopleNet’s mobile computing system to streamline the workflow process and automate communications between drivers and dispatchers using McLeod’s LoadMaster LTL product whenever required.
The announcement was made here Sept. 16 at the McLeod Software user conference.
Jackson said this integration clearly shows that “McLeod continues to be our business partner, not our competitor.”
Trimble Navigation purchased PeopleNet in 2011 and the following year bought TMW Systems, a direct competitor with McLeod, for $335 million. ALK Technologies also is part of Trimble’s Mobile Solutions sector.
“We want customers to choose the back-office product that is best for them,” Jackson said.
