PHILADELPHIA — PeopleNet is partnering with Samsung to expand the hardware choices available for its fleet-management applications.

Under this agreement, PeopleNet plans to certify a variety of Android-based Samsung mobile devices as in-cab display options for its ConnectedFleet Platform.

The collaboration will allow fleets to deploy their own proprietary programs, approved third-party apps and PeopleNet’s software on the same device, the company announced here at American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition.

PeopleNet showcased Samsung’s Tab Active and Tab A tablets in the exhibit hall, but the technology supplier plans to introduce additional Samsung mobile devices as well.

“You’ll see a wide variety of sizes and price points in the different devices that we’ll launch, based on what the market dictates,” Mark Kessler, general manager of trucking for PeopleNet, told Transport Topics.

PeopleNet introduced its first Android-based display — its proprietary ConnectedTablet — at the company’s user conference in August.

In addition to the mobile devices, PeopleNet will continue to offer its PD4 fixed-mount display as an option.
