Personal Spending Rises 0.1% in June

Consumer personal spending edged up 0.1% in June, the Commerce Department said Tuesday.

The increase followed a revised 0.6% increase in May that had been originally reported as a 0.5% gain.

Personal incomes in June rose 0.4% for a second straight month.

The spending gain matched economists’ forecasts, Bloomberg reported.

An increase in consumer spending could increase demand for new factory goods and the trucking shipments that get them to stores.
