PNV Rolls Out Wireless Broadband Service

PNV Inc., a company that provides telephone and cable connections at truck stops, launched a wireless network that gives truck drivers broadband access to the Internet.

The PNV “B” Connected service is available at 268 truck stops in 41 states and will complement PNV’s existing wired services of telecommunications, media and entertainment, company officials said.

Drivers access the wireless network by inserting a access card into a personal computer or laptop within a half-mile of the truck stop.

The system enables fleet operators to distribute business processes such as dispatching, payroll settlement and billing to drivers on the road and gives truck manufacturers access to truck data for routine maintenance and engine checks, the company said.
