Price of Imported Goods Declines in April

The price of goods imported to the United States fell in April, the first decline since November, the Labor Department reported May. 13.

April’s 0.4% decline follows a 0.4% rise the prior month. Over the past 12 months, the import price index has declined 0.3%, Bloomberg News reported.

Excluding fuel, import prices were flat from March. Prices for foreign petroleum fell 0.7% in April, and natural-gas prices dropped 18.5%.
