Princeton Consultants, an information technology and management consulting firm, has acquired the transportation management software business from TransWorks, a unit of rail operator Norfolk Southern Corp., and will use it as the basis for a new business to help manage interactions between shippers and carriers.
Tim Minnich, the former president of TransWorks, will head up Princeton TMX, said Steve Sashihara, CEO of the Princeton, New Jersey-based firm.
Although terms of the transaction were not disclosed, Sashihara said the deal presents “great opportunities” to partner with shippers to develop more advanced transportation management systems.
The TransWorks software platform was developed more than 13 years ago to help manage shipments for customers in agribusiness, building products, chemicals, forest products, metals, packaging and manufacturing industries.
