Purolator Courier and Teamsters Canada have reached a tentative agreement on a contract renewal for Purolator’s couriers, package handlers, truck drivers and owner-operators across Canada, the company said.
The agreement will be presented to the membership for a ratification vote, which is expected to take several weeks, Purolator said in a statement. Terms were not released.
“It’s business as usual at Purolator,” said Stephen Gould, Purolator’s senior vice president, human resources. “We’re pleased that we were able to work with the Teamsters to resolve the outstanding issues so quickly. With a new tentative agreement our customers can continue shipping with us with confidence.”
“The agreement is being unanimously recommended by the bargaining committee,” said Bob Bouvier, president of Teamsters Canada. “As a result of the tentative agreement, there will be no labor disruption,”
The tentative agreement was reached with the assistance of Canadian federal officials, Purolator said.
Purolator Courier is ranked No. 24 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
