Qualcomm Unveils New Mobile Platform for Drivers

Qualcomm Inc. Sunday unveiled a new mobile computing platform it said will bring more common office tasks into the truck cab.

The company made its announcement on the first day of the Truckload Carriers Association’s annual convention in Orlando, Fla.

The platform, called the MCP200, includes features such as WiFi, in-cab video training, Internet access and multi-mode capability, Qualcomm said in a statement.

Qualcomm said its goal was to allow carriers to provide better customer service and improve in-cab productivity.

Once the platform is available this summer, drivers will be able to access information such as payroll, customer-specific information and training from the cab, the company said.
