Qualcomm’s European Unit Acquires Spanish Firm

Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe BV, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc., said Monday it acquired most of the assets of Madrid, Spain-based Ronda Grupo Consultor.

Ronda is a provider in development, establishment and operation of fleet management systems for the transportation and logistics industry in Spain and Portugal, Qualcomm said.

The acquisition allows for the combination of Ronda’s local market knowledge and presence to enhance Qualcomm’s European fleet management operations.

“Spain and Portugal are significant markets,” said Sjef van Gool, managing director of Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe.

“The number of heavy and medium commercial vehicles is approaching 600,000, and with a very low penetration rate of fleet management services, this region represents one of the opportunistic markets in Europe,” he said in a statement.

Ronda’s personnel and proprietary software will be integrated into Qualcomm Enterprise Services Europe, and it will continue to operate as a branch office in Madrid to support and service existing local customers.
