Tank truck carrier Quality Distribution’s third-quarter net income was $720,000, or 4 cents a share, down from a profit of $1.5 million, or 8 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose 11.7% to $214.7 million, the company said late Thursday.

Chief Executive Officer Gary Enzor cited “cost-reduction initiatives” as a reason for the profit in a “challenging freight environment.”

Quality Distribution is ranked No. 35 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
