Tank truck carrier Quality Distribution said its first-quarter profit rose from a year ago, as its chemical logistics and intermodal businesses improved.
Net income rose to $9.1 million, or 34 cents a share, from $6.7 million, or 26 cents, a year ago. Revenue jumped 19.5% to $229.4 million.
Operating income rose $1.6 million to $15.4 million.
The company’s chemical logistics and intermodal businesses posted results that were sequentially better than the fourth quarter, reflecting solid trends in both businesses, CEO Gary Enzor said in a statement.
Quality Distribution is ranked No. 38 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
