Quality’s 3Q Income Rises

Tank truck carrier Quality Distribution said its third-quarter profit rose from a year ago on higher revenue.

Net income rose to $8.9 million, or 32 cents per share, from $6.2 million, or 25 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 11.4% to $222.1 million from $199.2 million, Quality said late Tuesday. Revenue from its chemical logistics business rose slightly to $151.4 million.

Despite “challenging” conditions — including those related to Hurricane Sandy in the Northeast — CEO Gary Enzor said the company “anticipate(s) improved year-over-year performance in all of our segments in 2013.”

Quality Distribution is ranked No. 38 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
