Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies, specializing in compressed natural gas systems for commercial vehicles, said July 22 its acquisition by Douglas Acquisitions, which was initiated in April, is completed.
The company is now known as Quantum Fuel Systems and wholly owned by Douglas, a family-owned $1 billion private equity firm based in Northern California.
Lake Forest, California-based Quantum said it will continue to provide CNG technology and is financially positioned to continue to grow its business operations, including “immediate enhancements” in customer service, support and product offerings.
Its current portfolio of CNG storage system products includes Q-Cab back-of-cab storage modules and the Q-Rail storage modules that are installed horizontally on the rails of heavy-duty trucks, the company said.
Also, Quantum is commercializing its virtual pipeline trailer — available in 500,000 and 650,000 standard cubic feet of storage. The company said it is a high-capacity transport trailer that optimizes the logistical efficiency of transporting CNG, or other gaseous fuels, by using its proprietary Q-Lite CNG storage tanks at 5,000 PSI. The virtual pipeline trailer will debut later this year.
