Rail Safety Record Is Criticized

The safety record of railroads was criticized this week by a new group comprised of municipal officials from around the country.



At a National Press Club news conference, representatives of RailWatch called for congressional hearings on rail safety, saying there is a rail accident every 90 minutes.

Both the railroad industry and the Association of American Railroads said that railroads are actually getting safer.
