RAIR Offers CSA-Related Upgrades

RAIR, which sells safety and compliance products, said on June 16 that it has made two upgrades to its products aimed at the federal Compliance, Safety, Accountability program.

The changes are focused on providing a more efficient environment for creating and managing reports by using Microsoft Silverlight technology. In addition, the company has introduced a feature that can link CSA data with driver vehicle inspection reports filed by drayage truckers when they return an intermodal chassis.

The company focused on maintenance in an effort to help customers reduce violations and repairs, said Gregory Lofy, president of RAIR, since 65% of violations tracked by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s scoring system known as Behavioral Analysis Safety Improvement Categories, or BASICs, are related to maintenance.

“Fortunately, this is one of the BASICs that carriers can improve by counseling drivers to perform more careful vehicle inspections,” he said.

The report improvements allow more effective filtering of data and better sorting tools for managing data.

RAIR said its driver vehicle inspection report module tracks whether a CSA violation related to the chassis was noted on the inspection report or was there beforehand.
