Rand McNally Releases New Products

ORLANDO, Fla. — Rand McNally announced the availability of the HD 100 device Oct. 22, as well as the new TrueTrack software product to provide fleets better control over routing.

Both offerings were on display here at American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exhibition.

The company said the HD 100 is designed to pair with tablets, phones and the company’s IntelliRoute TND 720 GPS device. It is available via the company’s fleet sales organization and at select travel centers, the company said.

The HD 100 provides electronic hours-of-service recording, vehicle-inspection reporting, text messaging and driver-performance monitoring.

The company said the device retails for $299, plus a monthly fee.

“The device will solve many industry problems — a cost-effective, simple solution that meets the needs of the market while being platform agnostic,” said Jim Rodi, senior vice president of mobile communications.

Rand McNally also said Web-based TrueTrack allows fleet managers to control the in-cab routing experience and track drivers’ adherence to predefined routes. Working in conjunction with existing company products, the software provides driver alerts and route settings.

It also offers a synchronized arrival time feature, which helps minimize dispatcher calls to the truck for updated information.

“Beyond efficiencies gained through improved control capabilities, TrueTrack will provide a single version of the truth, allowing alignment between fleet managers and drivers on the route driven, actual miles, and the estimated time of arrival.” Rodi said.

The company also said TrueTrack allows for quicker rerouting in the event of weather or other emergency.
