Registration Opens for National Student Technician Competition

Registration is now open for the 2016 TMC FutureTech National Student Technician Competition.

The event, designed to promote career opportunities as heavy-truck technicians, will be held in conjunction with the National Technician Skills Competition, TMCSuperTech 2016, held by American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council during its fall meeting and National Technician Skills Competition, Sept. 18-22 in Raleigh, North Carolina.

FutureTech consists of a set of skill stations for technician students, and winners will be announced at the TMC SuperTech awards luncheon during the council’s 2016 fall meeting. The top three winners’ schools will be presented prizes in March during the council’s 2017 annual meeting.

The registration deadline is Aug. 15, and forms can be downloaded at http://www.velociti.com/TMC-FUTURE-TECH.

Thirty-seven students competed last year, more than double the 2014 total. Daniel Hanna of Forsyth Technical Community College took first place, Jonathan Kelly of Southside Virginia Community College was second, and Karl Kerutis of WyoTech Blairsville placed third.

The student competition is sponsored by Velociti Inc., a global provider of technology deployment services.
