Roadnet Introduces 'Insight' Business Intelligence Tool, Enhances Telematics Integration

DALLAS — Routing software provider Roadnet Technologies, a subsidiary of Omnitracs, has launched a new business intelligence tool designed to help fleets make better decisions about their operations.

The new product, named Roadnet Insight, delivers information covering many facets of the enterprise, including planning, dispatching, asset and vehicle tracking, proof-of-delivery and telematics.

Kevin Haugh, vice president and general manager at Roadnet, said Insight “reduces the burden of sifting through and interpreting complex data by filling in the missing link between analytics and operational applications and presenting data in a manner that is easier to consume.”

“Insight’s interface allows users to see the connections between all parts of transportation management in order to make informed decisions that will impact their operations and, most importantly, their bottom line,” he said.

Insight is currently available for Roadnet Anywhere subscribers. It will be available to Roadnet Transportation Suite customers in March.

Separately, Roadnet also said it has expanded its Roadnet Telematics offering to provide tighter integration with its routing, dispatching, proof-of-delivery and new Insight analytics software.

The improved integration with Roadnet’s broader platform gives customers greater visibility to their fleets’ performance, the company said.

“The ability to combine routing and dispatching with telematics data allows fleet managers not only to orchestrate efficient route plans but also to see how drivers are performing against these plans, and at the same time monitor performance around behaviors such as  speeding, hard braking, rapid acceleration, idling and off-hours movement of the vehicle,” Haugh said.

Roadnet made the announcements here Feb. 9 at Omnitracs’ 2015 user conference.

Omnitracs, formerly part of Qualcomm Inc., acquired Roadnet in December 2013.
