Roadrunner Buys Two Trucking Firms

Roadrunner Transportation Systems said it has acquired container management and logistics firm Adrian Carriers for about $14.2 million and Wando Trucking for about $9 million.

Adrian Carriers, Milan, Ill., generated about $32.5 million in revenue last year. Intermodal transportation firm Wando, Charleston, S.C., generated almost $13 million, Roadrunner said in separate announcements.

Roadrunner said the Adrian acquisition will expand its capabilities within intermodal services and container management and will allow it to cross-sell its intermodal services.

The company said the Wando acquisition will boost its Southeast intermodal services and provide it with better access to the ports of Charleston, S.C., and Savannah, Ga.

Roadrunner Transportation Systems is ranked No. 32 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
