Roadway’s Wickham to Head ATA Foundation

Roadway Express Chairman Michael W. Wickham was elected chairman of the ATA Foundation on June 22 by the group’s board of directors.

Wickham said he will continue the foundation’s focus on science that buttresses trucking’s position on legislative and regulatory issues. He also plans to press the organization to conduct research that will directly benefit carriers.

“I believe that good scientific research is valuable, not just for use in advocacy but in helping ATA members run their businesses. We are all committed to being good corporate citizens and good, legitimate scientific research will help us run our companies that way,” he said.

Wickham cited the foundation’s ongoing research on automatic traffic systems, which aim to reduce urban congestion and improve the flow of truck traffic.
