Roberts Express Raises Some Rates

Expedited carrier Roberts Express increased the minimum charges for shipments handled by its express division.

Effective Nov. 1, the change will affect less than 7% of shipments pass through the express division. General tariff mileage rates and accessorial charges will remain unchanged, according to the company based in Akron, Ohio.

"The new minimum charges more accurately reflect the real cost of providing short-haul service," said Joel Childs, vice president of marketing.

Roberts is a subsidiary of FDX Corp., which also operates Federal Express Corp., RPS Inc., Viking Freight and FDX Logistics.
