Ryder Aims for the Top in Logistics Ranks

MIAMI — Ryder System wants to be the world’s preeminent logistics service provider.

Some would say it already is. Armstrong’s Guide to Third-Party Logistics Services Providers ranks the company number one with logistics revenue in 2000 of $1.67 billion, 13,000 logistics employees and 600 long-term logistics contracts.

The second-largest provider of dedicated contract carriage services after Schneider Logistics, Ryder operates 5,500 tractors and 1,000 trucks and manages close to $2 billion worth of freight transportation.
