Ryder System Inc. said Monday that the company’s president, Robert Sanchez, will become CEO effective Jan. 1, succeeding Gregory Swienton.
Swienton, 63, who is also chairman, will retire at company’s annual meeting next May, at which time Sanchez, 47, will become chairman.
Sanchez has been with Ryder for 19 years. He has served in senior executive leadership positions in operations, finance and information technology and has been a member of the company’s executive leadership since 2003.
Swienton, who has been on Ryder’s board since 1999 and chairman since 2002, will serve in an advisory capacity for a period of time following his retirement, the company said in a statement.
