Ryder System said it has launched RydeSmart 3.0, the next generation of RydeSmart, its onboard telematics system.
Ryder, a truck leasing and logistics company, said RydeSmart has been enhanced to provide more usability and vehicle intelligence to fleet managers and is now a software-as-a-service product.
RydeSmart — a GPS-enabled vehicle locater, tracking and performance management system — is offered to Ryder’s full-service lease customers.
RydeSmart is a compact hardware unit that is installed in a vehicle and connects to a computer and to diagnostics systems, the company said. Ryde-Smart communicates wirelessly via a Web-based application that can be accessed by fleet, safety and driver managers.
One new feature of RydeSmart 3.0 is a history playback that shows a vehicle’s 48-hour history and includes a slider with play and pause options, Ryder said.
