Ryder’s Fourth-Quarter Profits Improve

Ryder System said Thursday its fourth-quarter profit improved and projected its full-year revenue will rise 4% in 2012.

The Miami-based trucking and logistics company’s net income rose to $48.1 million, or 93 cents per share, from $37.1 million, or 72 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 17% to $1.54 billion, while operating revenue rose 16% to $1.24 billion.

Full-year net income was $169.8 million, or $3.28 per share, up from $118.2 million, or $2.25, in 2010. Revenue rose 18% to $6.05 billion, while operating revenue gained 16% to $4.81 billion.



Ryder projected its full-year revenue will rise 4% to $6.3 billion in 2012 and operating revenue will rise 6% to $5.1 billion.

The company’s Ryder Supply Chain Solutions segment is ranked No. 12 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
