Saddle Creek Invests in Natural Gas Trucks

Third-party logistics provider Saddle Creek Corp. said Wednesday it is purchasing natural gas trucks for its for-hire fleet.

The company said it has agreed to purchase 40 Freightliner trucks that run on compressed natural gas and plans to add 40 more in early 2012.

Saddle Creek said its new tractors will reduce its fleet’s carbon footprint by about 103,000 lbs. per truck each year – the equivalent of planting 85,760 trees.

The trucks will be based at the logistics provider’s Lakeland, Fla., headquarters and will make deliveries in Florida and southern Georgia.

Saddle Creek Corp. is ranked No. 40 on the TT Logistics 50 list of the largest North American logistics companies.
