Saddle Creek Logistics to Open $12 Million Pennsylvania Facility
A $12 million development has come to Pittston Township.
Saddle Creek Logistics Services, a third-party logistics company that provides warehousing, transportation, packaging and fulfillment services, has leased a 249,000-square-foot distribution facility at 1001 Sathers Drive near a new FedEx hub in Grimes Industrial Park.
Saddle Creek ranks No. 30 and FedEx ranks No. 9 on the Transport Topics Top 50 list of the largest logistics companies in North America.
Real estate company One Liberty Properties announced in a press release it has acquired the distribution facility on 21.8 acres for $12 million and is leasing it to Saddle Creek through 2022.
One Liberty CEO Patrick Callan Jr. said Saddle Creek has been in business for 50 years and has grown to be one of the largest privately held logistics providers in North America.
“The Pittston facility adds another high-quality industrial facility to our portfolio at an attractive price,” Callan said.
The property, built in 1990, has 300 parking spaces and 60 trailer parking stalls.
It is located off interstates 81 and 476, near the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.
“The property is well located off two interstate highways in close proximity to an international airport in a densely populated area offering a strong labor force,” Callan said.
Calls to Saddle Creek were not returned Jun 26, and it was not clear how many jobs the new facility will create.
The building formerly housed Clarcor Air Filtration Products, which laid off about 60 workers in 2014 and closed its manufacturing and distribution center.
