Truckload carrier Schneider National said Monday it is expanding into the local and regional bulk hauling sectors.
Schneider said that in the last year it has introduced shorter length of haul capabilities to shippers in four U.S. markets, with expansion into additional markets planned for later this year.
Schneider Bulk’s local and regional service operates out of Schneider National operating centers/terminals in the South, Midwest and Eastern United States.
Last year, Schneider first began offering the service to the Houston, New Orleans and Chicago markets. In April, Schneider opened a new terminal in Pittsburgh and simultaneously launched the service in that market.
Schneider said the response to its regional offering is faring well and that it will expand this summer in Keasbey, N.J., where shippers in that market can expect bulk local and regional service for their area by the end of the year.
Schneider is ranked No. 9 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
