Mack Trucks said Tuesday that Dennis Slagle will succeed Paul Vikner as the company’s chief executive officer, effective April 1.

Slagle, 53, has been CEO of Volvo Construction Equipment North America, headquartered in Asheville, N.C., since 2003.

Slagle, who has more than 25 years of experience in the construction equipment industry, will be based at Mack’s headquarters in Allentown, Pa.

Vikner, who has been Mack’s CEO since 2001, will become vice chairman of Mack’s board of directors.

Vikner will represent both Mack and its parent company, the Volvo Group, in their work with various federal government entities and industry organizations affecting North American truck operations, Mack said in a statement.
