Authorities closed westbound lanes of Interstate 70 west of Denver Thursday because of accidents caused by a spring snowstorm, the Associated Press reported.
Highway officials closed the lanes just before 9:30 a.m. local time, and there was no immediate word on when they might reopen, AP said.
The storm also prompted authorities to require chains on commercial vehicles on highways over Vail, Loveland, Berthoud, Monarch, Coal Bank, Molas and Red Mountain passes, AP reported.
Chains are also required on both approaches to the Eisenhower Tunnel on I-70, AP said.
