Some Trucks Allowed Over Hoover Dam but Ban on Big Rigs Stays in Effect

U.S. officials slightly eased recent security restrictions on trucks crossing the Hoover Dam, but the highway over the dam remains off limits to most trucks and all 18-wheelers.

The Department of Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation recently announced it had expanded the distance local trucking can be away from the dam in order to get permits to travel U.S. 93 over the span, which crosses the Colorado River between Arizona and Nevada.

The dam is the primary truck route between Phoenix and Las Vegas.
