Spireon Introduces First Automated Detention Optimization System

Asset-tracking provider Spireon Inc. announced the release of the first automated detention optimization system for the trucking industry.

The Detention Optimization Module is being released as part of Spireon’s FleetLocate Asset & Trailer Intelligence solution and features flexible reports that enable trucking companies to instantly see where their trailers are.

The module also reports how long trailers have been detained at specific locations, whether the trailers are empty or loaded and which customer locations have exceeded their detention grace periods. It also provides daily views of billable detention hours.

“Detention billing and time were significant sources of pain for the trucking industry. We’re providing a solution to this pain point, one that’s good for both trucking companies and their customers,” CEO Marc Brungger said in a statement.

The Module also allows trucking companies to receive alerts when a customer location exceeds its grace period and shares these alerts with customers. This lets customers see which of their locations are incurring detention billing so they can address and modify the behavior.
