States Warn on TSA Deadline

everal states may not be fully ready to meet the Transportation Security Administration’s Jan. 31 deadline to begin fingerprinting new drivers of hazardous materials, according to comments filed with the agency by state and industry groups.

Among the problems cited by the states was that TSA had yet to clear up questions about the agent that TSA had said could collect prints and data for the states.

The comments were filed in response to TSA’s proposal to collect between $80 and $100 per driver for the background checks.
