Stemco and Ridge Corp., two makers of trailer aerodynamic equipment, have settled a patent dispute by allowing both companies to manufacture and market equipment to reduce drag by attaching devices to the rear end of trailers.

A joint statement said that Ridge can use Stemco’s patents and resume selling GreenTail devices to fleets and trailer manufacturers. Stemco, which acquired TrailerTail maker Advanced Transit Dynamics in 2015, will continue to sell TrailerTail devices. Details of the settlement weren’t disclosed by Texas-based Stemco and Ohio-based Ridge.

Stemco filed the patent infringement claim in U.S. District Court in California last year.

“Both Stemco and Ridge are pleased to put the litigation behind them and focus on providing cost-efficient aerodynamic technology solutions to their customers,” their statement said.
