Study Finds Dry Vans Wait Less

LAS VEGAS — Drivers for dry van fleets spend less time waiting to load and unload than drivers for refrigerated fleets, according to preliminary results of a new study by the Truckload Carriers Assn.

A study last year found that drivers for refrigerated fleets waited an average of 44 hours a week. The new study shows that dry van fleet drivers wait an average of 33.5 hours a week.

Martin Labbe, president of Martin Labbe Associates of Ormond Beach, Fla., and the author of the both studies, cautioned against making comparisons until the full study is completed in a few months.
