Members of the Truckload Carriers Association will decide the future of their group’s relationship with American Trucking Associations on March 22.
That’s the date when TCA members vote whether to merge their association with the nation’s largest trucking group or to go it alone.
“The members of TCA have a fundamental choice,” U.S. Xpress Enterprises President Patrick E. Quinn wrote in a March 3 letter faxed to TCA’s 750 members. “Either we integrate with ATA, and together build a powerhouse, or we go our separate ways."

The issue is generating strong emotions on both sides as TCA members fax letters and make phone calls in the days leading up to the vote at the organization’s annual meeting in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., March 19 to 22. TCA members not attending the meeting had until March 10 to cast their vote by absentee ballot.
