TCA Leaders Back Affiliation With ATA

The leadership of the Truckload Carriers Association has recommended the group integrate with American Trucking Associations, a key tenet of the larger group’s reorganization plan.

TCA’s officers plan to put the question of strengthening the affiliation with trucking’s largest trade group to members at their annual meeting in March. Officials from both groups will address the TCA membership at a March 21 session, with a vote scheduled for the next day.

“Assuming that details can be worked out, that will continue the operation of TCA as a distinct organization focused on its core missions of education, training and the solving of common management problems for truckload carriers based upon TCA’s 1999 strategic plan,” Chairman Gary Baumhover wrote in a Dec. 28 letter to ATA Chairman Lee P. Shaffer. “I am confident that these details will be successfully addressed in advance of our March meeting.”

The letter was made public by ATA last week.
