Thermo King Introduces Truck Parking App
The drop-yard service allows drivers to “stop and rest overnight," said Thermo King’s Gayatri Abbott, director of smart products and telematics. Abbott, who said the app was “just launched," announced the overnight parking service March 25 at the Mid-America Trucking Show here.
She said truckers would be charged a nominal fee for overnight parking and that longer-term parking or trailer drops were available. Use of a Thermo King unit isn’t necessary for a truck to park in the dealers' lots, and dry-cargo truckers also may use the service.
The app connects to Thermo King’s Dealer Locator and Drop Yard Referral system, which enables drivers to quickly find dealers, contact information and hours of operation and security information.
The company also announced a new app for its TracKing Telematics system that provides end-to-end visibility of temperature-controlled cargo in transit.
Thermo King sells Precedent S-600M MultiTemp and C-600 refrigeration units, TriPac Evolution auxiliary power units and offers solar panels as an alternative power source that helps reduce “parasitic loads” on both competitive and Thermo King units.
