Three Join Transportation Committee

The House Transportation Committee is nearing its full size with the appointment of three new members.

The appointment of Republican Reps. Doug Bereuter of Nebraska, Steve Kuykendall of California and Michael Simpson of Idaho leaves the committee one lawmaker short of its full roster of 75 members.

Bereuter was first elected to the House in 1978. He serves on the Banking and International Relations committees and is known for his attention to agricultural issues in his state.

Kuykendall, who is president of a Southern California mortgage company, was elected to Congress in November. He also serves on the Armed Services and Science committees.

Before his successful congressional campaign in November, Simpson was speaker of the Idaho House of Representatives. He also is a member of the Resources Committee.
