American Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council announced the start of a study with eSMARTT on the use and adoption of intelligence products and services in the refrigerated transportation sector.
“Everyone wants to know that their food and medicines are safe and effective at the time and point of use,” TMC Executive Director Robert Braswell said in a release, “and this research will show how leading carriers are using technology to ensure safe and efficient deliveries.”
Technology is already providing detailed tracking from the field to the home in this important segment of the trucking industry. Both the federal government and nationwide retailers are driving innovation to ensure deliveries are completed successfully while overcoming any challenges associated with equipment maintenance, shipping issues, traffic conditions, weather and driver availability, according to TMC.
This is the second survey report TMC and eSMARTT have collaborated on. The first was released June 30 and centered on the trailer rental and lease market.
The eSMARTT venture is a collaboration between Business Accelerants of Sherwood, Ore., and WillGo Transportation Consulting of Petoskey, Mich. It is dedicated to researching and understanding new technology tools for the transportation industry and the many complex issues around future technological standardization and equipment interchangeability. — Transport Topics
