TNT Logistics Nets Defense Contract

TNT Logistics North America received a $60 million, five-year contract with the Defense Supply Centre in Philadelphia, the company announced.

TNT said it will deliver spare automotive and aircraft parts to selected depots and bases and will set up a system to procure additional materials and supplies through competitive bidding under the government’s Industrial Prime Vendor Program.

Frank Guillott, vice president of TNT in Baltimore, said the defense industry is emerging as a major market for the company as the Department of Defense outsources more of its logistics functions to third-party specialists.

TNT is a wholly owned unit of TNT Post Group, based in the Netherlands. TNT Logistics operates 30 distribution facilities in Canada and the U.S.
