“Our needs far outstrip our available funds at the present time,” said Bill Capone, director of communications and public relations for the Turnpike Commission.
Trucks account for 12% of the total traffic on the turnpike, but the agency collects 46% to 48% of its revenue from tolls on commercial trucks, it said.
