The Technology & Maintenance Council will host its Fall Meeting and SuperTech event Sept. 21-24 in Orlando, Florida.

“While our drivers and trucks move America’s goods, our technicians play a huge role in keeping them on the road,” American Trucking Associations President Bill Graves said. “TMC SuperTech is a tremendous opportunity to highlight this, and TMC’s Fall Meeting is an excellent chance for our industry’s best and brightest to learn about the latest trends in trucking.”

During the meeting, technicians from across the country will compete in TMC SuperTech 2015. After a qualifying round of exams, the top performers advance to the hands-on skills challenge.

“Our technician skills competition recognizes the technical achievements of our technicians, whether in service with fleets, leasing company, dealership or other service providers. This is an important time to promote those skills and encourage new technicians to join our industry,” said Carl Kirk, ATA vice president of maintenance, information technology and logistics.

In 2014, Mark McLean Jr. of FedEx Freight repeated as SuperTech champion.

TMC also announced it is expanding the National Student Technician Competition, known as TMCFutureTech, with a set of skill stations.

The fall meeting features technical sessions on topics such as troubleshooting aftertreatment systems, electronic driver vehicle inspections and cybersecurity as well as a number of smaller educational sessions on a variety of topics from recruiting and mentorship to fuel-system management and electronic issues.

The speaker at the annual industry luncheon will be Kenneth Vieth, president and senior analyst for ACT Research Co. He is the company’s principal heavy-truck and trailer-market analyst.

On the opening day of the conference, more than 100 different task forces will meet to continue work on recommended practices and other reports.
