TransCore Unveils Rate Index Pro Database
Trucking technology system provider TransCore said its new Rate Index Pro product will provide single-lane, real-time truckload information that can be used in pricing and contract negotiations.
Users also can make multiple requests in bulk format and obtain rate information, TransCore said. The data compiled by Rate Index Pro not only are accessible on the Web but also can be piped into existing transportation management software.
Rate Index Pro’s database includes rates for more than 12 million truckload lanes derived from information gathered from large and midsized fleets operating in North America and surveys of about 600 U.S. brokerage companies.
Information in the database can be used for spot pricing, trend analysis on existing routes, potential market expansion and yield maximization by sales and operations professionals.
“Rate Index Pro is designed to help freight brokers and carriers in today’s tightening economy, where no one can afford to leave money on the table or be priced out of the market,” said David Schrader, vice president for the company’s freight business service.
Information that is accessible through the product includes minimum and maximum rates per mile, average fuel surcharges and accessorial charges, also on a mileage basis and a weighted average point-to-point rate. Rates can be obtained based on ZIP codes, market area or state for dry van, refrigerated or flatbed service.
The company has integrations running with brokerage software from McLeod Software and TMW Systems, a TransCore representative told Transport Topics last week during the Transportation Intermediaries Association’s annual meeting.
TransCore also announced last week it was adding StarTrak’s ReeferTrak RT-6000 to its portfolio of satellite communication products it offers to North American carriers.
