Transplace Names Abernathy President of 3PL, Brokerage Unit

Transplace said it has promoted George Abernathy to the post of president of Transplace Logistics, its third-party logistics, truck brokerage and consulting units.

Abernathy was most recently Transplace’s chief operating officer and has more than 25 years of industry experience, including roles as J.B. Hunt Transport Services and North American Van Lines.

Tom Sanderson will continue in his role as CEO and maintain direct responsibility for Transplace’s ocean and air forwarding, and Mexico business units.

The change will allow Sanderson to focus on long-term goals and acquisitions, the Frisco, Texas-based technology and logistics company said in a statement.

Transplace is owned by private equity firm CI Capital Partners, which purchased the business in 2009. Transplace generates about $800 million in annual revenue.
