Two key transportation groups have launched a radio ad campaign calling on Congress to approve a permanent fix for the Highway Trust Fund.
The American Road and Transportation Builders Association and the American Public Transportation Association are running 30-second ads in the congressional districts of the top Republicans and Democrats in the House and Senate, in an effort to focus their attention on infrastructure funding.
“Tell [Congressman/Senator] you’re tired of funny money politics and budget schemes on transportation. It’s not fair to our kids,” the ad said.

The ads will run throughout the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area next week to coincide with Infrastructure Week.
ARTBA and APTA are the latest stakeholders to press lawmakers to fix the trust fund. GOP leaders who control the chambers have yet to say how they will boost funding for highway programs after transportation funding authority expires May 31. The fund, which relies on taxes on gas and diesel fuel, is projected to be depleted by mid-summer.
