Help Inc. announced that its PrePass transponders can now pay tolls at facilities run by the Texas Department of Transportation, North Texas Tollway Authority and the Harrison County Toll Road Authority.

Truck drivers often use PrePass transponders to bypass weigh stations, but there are toll-only and toll add-on options available.

“Tolling is often seen as an inconvenience as it can cause delays and decrease productivity,” said Karen Rasmussen, CEO of HELP Inc. “With the additional Texas agencies, PrePass customers receive the benefits through our network of tolling partners including TxTag, E-ZPass, K-TAG, SunPass, Pikepass, FasTrak, EZ Tag and TollTag.”

The company’s main competitor in the truck tolling market is Bestpass Inc., which has offered full coverage in Texas since the fourth quarter of 2015. However, Bestpass doesn’t offer weigh station bypass.

Both transponders help truck drivers avoid lines to pay a toll attendants. With the hours-of-service requirement, Help and Bestpass market their products as a way to increase productivity.

Both companies pay the toll authorities, consolidate the bills from multiple states and send the one-month bill to the trucking company or owner-operator.

“The expansion of PrePass tolling services in Texas provides our members and commercial transporters the ability to consolidate billing from multiple toll providers included with the PrePass weigh station bypass service,” said John Exparza, CEO of Texas Trucking Association.
