Truck tolls will rise on six of the seven major bridges and tunnels operated within New York City by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, beginning Dec. 30.
For E-ZPass users, tolls for both cars and trucks will be 5% higher under the new rate schedule, while the rate hike for drivers paying cash will be higher.
For trucks, the cash tolls could be $10 to $15 higher, depending on the crossing and truck size.
Today, for instance, a five-axle truck with E-ZPass pays $45 to cross the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge that connects Brooklyn and Staten Island and has one-way tolling. When the new rates take effect, the same truck crossing between the two boroughs will pay $47.26.
Without an E-ZPass, however, a five-axle truck crossing the Verrazano will have to pay $70, up from today’s $60.
