merican Trucking Associations and the Virginia Trucking Association have launched a campaign opposing proposed tolls on Interstate 81 in Virginia.

Darrin Roth, director of highway operations for ATA, said the two organizations decided to launch the campaign because there is a real chance Virginia may toll I-81.

“This could set a dangerous precedent for the rest of the country,” he said. “No state has ever taken an interstate that was built without tolls and decided to toll it.”

Roth said the campaign was launched last week to coincide with VDOT’s public comment period on I-81.
