ome major trucking companies and industry associations offered the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration conditional support for mandating the use of electronic onboard recording devices to monitor driver hours-of-service rules.

Others, however, still maintained that the technology should not be forced upon the industry.

Opinions on the technology were offered to FMCSA in response to the agency’s request for more information about the current state of EOBR technology.



Several large fleets, including Overnite Transportation Co., FedEx Express and J.B. Hunt Transport Inc., and the American Moving and Storage Association offered conditional support for the technology.
